Promoting Appeals

Appeal Managers can participate in promotion also. They can do something as easy as email the link to their friends and family or they can put together a more formal email in givezooks, and the response rates are captured.
If you have a website or blog, you may also want to ask the Campaign Manager to send you the embed code for the campaign widget.

Emailing a Link

A simple way promote an appeal is to just forward a link. As an Appeal Manager, you can find the link by Previewing your Appeal and copying the web address (URL) from your browser and pasting it into an email (make sure that you are viewing the public page of your appeal so that you get the correct link). Now that you have the link, you can finish writing your email and address it to the desired recipients and send it.
This approach lets you just use your existing email address book.

The key to effective email solicitations is to share personal stories and images that bring your cause to life! It's also helps when the recipient of the email knows the sender personally, which is where appeals come in. Writing effective email solicitaions is critical to making a strong connection with your donors. Visit Email Solicitation DO's and DON'Ts for guideines.

Emailing via givezooks!

Appeal managers may also email their supporters from withing givezooks. By doing this you can personalize the emails with merged fields and the emails can be tracked to understand which emails have bounced, which have been opened, clicked-thru, or resulted in a donation.
To email your supporters via givezooks, here are the steps:

  1. Upload your contacts to your personal Address Book in givezooks
  2. Organize your contacts into Distribution Lists
  3. Draft your email
  4. Send the email

Before you can send out any emails to promote your campaign, you need to setup your Address Book

Go to the email tab of the Appeal and select Compose new solicitation.

The New email solicitation page allows you to setup who the email is from, who the recipients are, the subject line and the body.

  1. Make sure you have selected your address book from the Options menu.
  2. Fill out the To: field by dragging Distribution lists or Tags and dropping them on the field. You can also just type in names from your address book.
    • You can switch between your personal Address Book and the organization's Address Book by selecting the link under the Options menu.
  1. Fill out the Subject field. You can utilize the Merge Fields on the lower right in order to personalize the Subject.
  2. Fill out the Body of the email. You can also use various Merge fields to personalize the content of the email. In addition to what you add to the Body of the email, a link to the Appeal will be added automatically.

If the Campaign is Launched and public, you will be able to send the email, but if the Campaign is not yet public, then you will have an option to Save as Draft. You can then come back after the campaign is launched and send the email.
