Campaign Setup

Campaigns can be highly personalized using multimedia content such as pictures, slide shows, videos, and text.

givezooks! allows campaigns to be subdivided into smaller appeals, which can be managed by your volunteers. Appeals personalize giving! and empowers your volunteers to share stories and images that connect with your supporters!

Types: Annual Funds, Capital Campaigns (especially the 'clean up' phase), Alumni Appeals, Disaster Relief Funds, Corporate Sponsored Challenges

Creating and Editing the Campaign Profile

To create a new Campaign go to the organization dashboard and click on 'New Campaign.' This will take you to the Campaign Profile, where you set up all of the Campaign details that are used to configure what your Supporters and Donors will see. Below is a detailed explanation of each field and how it is used.

The Campaign Profile is where you define the information your Supporters and Donors will see. Below is a detailed explanation of each field and how it is used.

Campaign Name

The Name by which the campaign will be publicly known.

Campaign Owner

The owner of the campaign will have access to edit the content and layout of the campaign and will show in the from field of email solicitations and Thank You notes. You can change the campaign owner at any time.

End Date

This date defines the end of the Campaign. It is also used to let supporters know when donations are due. To input a date, choose it from the calendar.

Short Campaign Description

This description is a short summary of the campaign. This is the description that appears with the name when the campaign is displayed in a list, as on the organization home page and Featured Fundraisers.  Keep in mind two considerations when writing a short campaign description:

  • Use the keywords from the defined Tags
  • Focus the description with the goal to generate interest in the fundraiser.

Campaign Letter Title

An example might be - "A note from the Executive Director"

Campaign Letter

The Campaign Letter allows you to tell about the campaign, the need, and how the campaign proceeds will be used.

Type

The Type field is where you classify your organization's Campaign (e.g., Capital Campaign, Annual Fund, Alumni Appeal, or you can create your own name).

Tags

Tags are words associated with your campaign (e.g., environment, education) that will help supporters find your campaign as they search.

Goal Amount

This is the amount to be raised by the campaign. Simply enter the number. We'll take care of commas, decimals, and dollar signs.

Campaign Code

Optional, for your internal use - enter a code that you or your organization's accounting folks create in order to make bookkeeping easier. This code will be listed in the donation reports.

Thumbnail Image

This is the picture or image that will be displayed with your Campaign. The image will be used in the Campaign listing and will also be the default image for the main Public Campaign page. This image is optional, but if you don't upload an image, a default logo will be displayed when the Campaign is listed.

Update Button

Click on the Update button to save all your information.



Configuring the Campaign Layout

The Campaign Layout is where you configure your Public Campaign page.

Header Section

The Header section is setup once for the Organization (in the Organization Profile) and is used for all of your Organization's Fundraisers.

Main Section

The Main Section consists of two elements, Media and Note. By checking the boxes on the right these elements are either displayed or not.

Media: Is defined in the Media Section at the bottom of this page.
Note: Is the Campaign Letter that you defined in the Campaign Profile.

You can also change the order that these are displayed on the page by dragging the associated boxes that represent those sections.

Sidebar Section

This controls the elements that are displayed on the right hand side of the Public Campaign page. By checking the boxes on the right these elements are either displayed or not. You can also change the order that these are displayed on the page by dragging the associated boxes on the left.

Thermometer: The thermometer displays the real-time progress towards the campaign goal.
Donor Wall: Displaying the Donor Wall will allow your supporters to be recognized for donating. Donors still have the option of having their name and donation amount listed.
Appeals: This element displays all of the Appeals associated with the Campaign.
Get Involved: This element has links for your Supporters to Share with a Friend and Donate or Pledge.
About Us: This element displays contact information for the Organization.

Media Section

The Media section allows you to upload images or link to a video or slideshow. Adding Media to your Appeal can really reinforce key messages in your appeal with a visual element.  People like to be entertained, so give them something interesting to look at that will inspire them.

Adding a Single image
Select the Single picture option in the Media Section. You can then Browse to find an image on your local computer. Finally just select upload and the image will be added to your Appeal and resized if required.
If you already have a few images uploaded, you can just drag the one that you want to the area where the current image is displayed.

Adding a Slideshow
Select the Slideshow option in the Media Section. You can then Browse to find an image on your local computer. Finally just select upload and the image will be added to your Appeal and resized if required. Continue to follow this process until you have all of the images uploaded that you want included in the slideshow.

The images will display in the slideshow in the order that you upload them.

If you want to remove an image from the slideshow, just select the X next to the file name and the image will be deleted.

Adding a Video or other slideshow
Select the Embedded video option in the Media Section. You can then paste the Embed code from your favorite photo or video site in the field. Finally just select Update and the video/slideshow will be added to your Appeal.
